‘The Train’; features an authentic cigar box guitar and is an anti-drugs song which uses the metaphor of a train to describe the runaway journey of a recovering drug user who is gradually getting his life back on-track – it begins mid-tempo but then rapidly spins out of control as the song progresses.

Official Live Video: Filmed at the Vila Do Conde Blues Festival, Portugal (with lyrics)

The Train Lyrics:

This is a story ’bout a train – that just keeps rollin’ on
nothin’ gets in its way – nothin’ and no-one

Gaze into my eyes – see what you have done
you’ve taken all my self-respect – much more than anyone
could ever need anybody else – that’s how I wanted you
you pulled me in – you spat me out
made me dependent on you

I’m addicted to your railroad – but my stations undefined
I’ve been a fool to myself-since the day that I mainlined
I bought a one-way ticket – now I don’t wanna go – oh no!
help me in my hour of need – please don’t let that whistle blow – don’t let it blow boy – don’t let it blow

Free me from this prison – save me now o Lord
guide these shakin’ fingers – to the communication cord
I said help me – defeat this enemy within’
help this poor derservin’ soul – rise above this mess he’s in
hear my cry – yeah I cry
c’mon train – Just lost control for a little while – that’s all

c’mon train

I said have mercy – it just keeps rollin’ on and on

Gaze into my eyes – see what you have done
you’ve taken all my self-respect – much more than anyone
could ever need anybody else – that’s how I wanted you
you pulled me in – you spat me out
now I’m gonna tell you what I’m gonna do right now – I’m gonna

Stop you train – right now
I’m gonna stop you in your tracks
c’mon train – disappear y’all and don’t come back

I said have mercy – c’mon train
