WordPress is easily the most popular platform on the web and as a solution it is extremely effective at separating content from design. This is very helpful as it make it possible to alter the design by simply switching out the theme but more on that later.
In this module we will be mainly using the WordPress dashboard to edit.
However in order for WordPress to function it needs to be housed on a server with a database installed to hold the media.
This is all taken care of by your provider when you purchase hosting space but there is also a way that you can install your own server on your own machine to make a local version of your site that you can use to experiment with.
In this module we will be working in teams of two but by installing MAMP each individual student will also be able to experiment on their own machines without compromising the integrity of the group website online.
